Welcome to Clay Tiler's FAQ. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Q: What is the best way to find the right type of roof for my project?A: Americanroofer.com has direct links to manufacturers and suppliers of roofing products that would be a good place to start. Once you have narrowed down your choices, contact a qualified Contractor.Q: What is the best felt to use under Tile?A: Most Tile Manufacturers call for a minimum #30 lb. felt. I recommend upgrading to a #40 lb. felt, and you can go all the way and install a Hot Mopped or Modified System. In most cases that would be overkill.Q: When is it a good time to re-roof?A: In most cases spring and early summer is the best time to re-roof. Late summer and fall are usually the busiest times for roofers, and you would probably get better service and prices if you avoid the fall rush.Q: How do I choose a potential Contractor?A: You should get 3 bids only. Contact licensed Contractors in your area. Once you have made a decision and before you sign a contract, check the references and insist on a copy of, both Workman's Compensation Insurance and Liability Insurance. Contact the State License Board and make sure the license is active and in good standing. It is California state law that a customer never pay more than a 10% deposit/down payment. For larger projects, ask to pay the supplier/vendor directly or have the Contractor give you an Unconditional Release from the material supplier. |
